Learn "Fort Warden," a Favorite Reel in D from Québec

Sunday

9:30-10:30AM

Location: Jean Carignan Room 2

Instructor: Éric Favreau (fiddle)

Style: Canadian Québecois (French Canadian)

A three-part tune from Gaspesian fiddler Yvon Mimeault. Interesting to learn a few subtle characteristics of Québec music.Yvon suggests his father learned it from one of the itinerant fiddlers ("Quêteux", or 'beggars') that families would put up for a night or two, in return for music. The title, however, is modern, given by Yvon at the American Fiddle Tunes festival in Fort Worden, Washington, where this tune was the favorite of the week's class he taught (Source: the Traditional Tune Archive). Éric’s classes are always fun.
