Brian O'Donovan is best known as the genial and knowledgeable host of "A Celtic Sojourn" on WGBH public radio in Boston. He loves music production and public broadcasting, and is a strong supporter of traditional music and performance. Says Brian: "The best part of my job is WGBH in the universal sense: Our staff, the institution itself, and particularly the most important element—the community that watches, listens to, and participates in all of the programs and events we produce."
Brian was born and raised in Clonakilty in West Cork, Ireland, a town of about 3,000 people in a beautiful area of the country. Economic challenges still dominated the country at that time; he grew up in a fairly rural setting that had remained virtually unchanged for the previous 50 years at least. But then the 60s hit and his imagination flew to America and England and rock and roll! Brian knew he would leave eventually and after graduating university, headed for England and eventually Boston. He only intended to stay for 3 weeks, but that was 29 years ago, and the rest is history. At Fiddle Hell, he'll give a workshop or two and soak up the FH vibe.
