"Off She Goes," which first appeared in print in 1790, is an essential jig for players of all ages. The tune was and is popular throughout the British Isles and North America. It is said to have been a tradition for the fiddle player to sit on the deck of the ship playing "Off She Goes" as the ship departed harbor.
