Alan Kaufman

Alan Kaufman is a fine old time fiddler, guitarist, mandolin player and singer.  He is incredibly knowledgeable about a variety of traditional American folk music genres of the 20th century, and a well-known yodeler. A fiddle teacher in the Boston area, Alan has an excellent tune repertoire, leads many jam sessions, and is a fine teacher and fiddle tune composer. Alan partnered with Don Stratton last year to record a well-reviewed CD of 23 of their original tunes, called "All in Good Time."

Many years ago, Alan wrote the book "Beginning Old Time Fiddle," which influenced a lot of would-be oldtime fiddlers.  He has played with many bands over time, including the Wretched Refuse String Band and the cast band in the original Broadway production of "The Robber Bridegroom."
