D'Addario Artist Tom Morley’s career spans thirty years and a host of genres. He's played Celtic, bluegrass, classical, swing, Americana, and country honky tonk, earning a gold album for his work with “new traditionalist” country artist John Anderson. Classically trained with a degree in music education, Tom's followed his passion for Irish Traditional Music for the past two decades, as a soloist and with various groups, including the Celtic/World band, Mithril, and (along with his wife Fran) the Irish folk trio Stringer’s Ridge, his newest project since moving to Chattanooga, TN. He has made multiple trips to Ireland and played with top players, including Manus McGuire, Liz Carroll, Frankie Gavin, Maurice Lennon, Charlie Piggott and Thomas Walsh (composer of Inisheer). He's also opened for We Banjo 3, Solas, and the Brock McGuire Band and performed with Cherish the Ladies.
Tom teaches privately and at fiddle workshops and string camps around the US, including the original O’Connor Method Camps, American Music Camp Maine, Julie Lyonn Lieberman’s Strings Without Boundaries, SCOR Adult String Camp, and John C. Campbell Folk School. His work and publications brought him to the attention of the Leinster School of Music and Dance at Griffin College Dublin, which selected him as the first US “International Outreach Program” affiliate for their new Online Irish Trad Fiddle Certification Program. Five of Tom’s students were the first in the world to earn the school’s top-level certification. Tom contributes regularly to iFiddle digital magazine, and has written several well-received fiddle instructional books, including Learn to Play Irish Trad Fiddle and the Fiddle Club Favorites for Strings series, a collection of folk and fiddle tunes for beginning players, available for violin, viola, cello, and mandolin.
